The union representing almost 12,000 transit workers in Toronto says "further progress" has been made in talks with the city as its midnight strike deadline nears.

Union president Sumit Guleria said that after a difficult bargaining session last week the union voted in favour of setting a strike deadline of April 22 at midnight.
