The New Democrats say they will introduce a private member's bill that would require the province's agriculture minister to take steps to maintain the low-lying area where the Trans-Canada Highway goes over the Tantramar marshes.

On both of Canada's coasts, communities will have to accept being reshaped by rising sea levels due to climate change — unless they do something about it.

Amherst, N.S., Mayor David Kogon says sea levels are projected to rise in the Bay of Fundy over 15 to 20 years to the point where the Isthmus of Chignecto will flood, even without a storm surge.
