Blowhorns, sunflower seeds, and peanuts are no longer allowed at Saskatchewan Roughriders home games at Mosaic Stadium.

Daryl Rex of the Manitoba Crop Alliance noted the demand for sunflower birdseed has soared by about 10 to 15 per cent this year.

The Spitz sunflower seed plant in southeastern Alberta will close later this year and production will be moving "to an existing contract manufacturer partner in the U.S.," the plant's owner, Pepsico, confirmed to Global News in an email on Friday.
