The cost of electric vehicles is expected to decline to reach parity with internal combustion vehicles in 2024 and 2025 and consumer demand could skyrocket in a very short period of time, but Canada doesn't yet have the metal mining facilities to provide materials.

A second coal-mining company in four months is being hit with a seven-figure penalty for polluting incidents that impacted fish in tributaries of the Athabasca River east of Jasper National Park in Alberta. 

A company that owns a coal mine west of Edmonton says it is working to fix environmental problems affecting one of its tailings ponds.
