The Supreme Court says Richard Vallières must pay a fine equal to the value of the stolen syrup. He has 10 years to pay the fine, failing which he will serve six years in prison.

More than 20 people were arrested in connection with the theft, and searches were conducted in Quebec, New Brunswick, Ontario and the United States.
