As Premier Jason Kenney’s UCP government was tabling its 2020 budget at the Alberta legislature on Thursday afternoon, protesters rallied outside the building in support of the province’s public sector workforce after marching down Edmonton’s Jasper Avenue.

Alberta's largest public sector union says the government plans to cut up to 5,900 positions as part of its plan to balance the province's budget by the 2022-23 fiscal year.

Manitoba will introduce legislation to help control spending in the public sector, including wage increases
