A controversial Lethbridge pathway project has been cancelled by city council, despite previous approval for a $1.75-million update in the city's river valley.

A week after hearing an update on the Pathway 24 project at a community issues committee meeting, Lethbridge city council was once again discussing the already approved coulee upgrade, with Coun. Blaine Hyggen pushing to scrap the project entirely.

Some Lethbridge cyclists, hikers and trail runners are urging the city not to move ahead with its approved development of a popular coulee trail for public use.
