The announcement comes after a series of hearings held by parliamentary committees appointed to investigate sporting abuses and safe sport in Canada.

In a letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday, Scholars Against Abuse in Canadian Sport urgently asked for the federal government to launch an inquiry.
