The Ottawa Citizen flatly rejected the legal notice from the National Hockey League team, saying the video shot surreptitiously by an Uber driver was circulating on social media when the paper decided to report on it.

Surveillance and data security scholars said they are deeply concerned about the issues raised by the fact a conversation between seven Ottawa Senators players during an Uber ride was captured and shared without those players' knowledge.

Ottawa Senators player Matt Duchene could be heard saying he "hasn't paid attention" to meetings with assistant coach Marty Raymond in "three weeks."
