Police officers who are guilty of race-based discrimination should face disciplinary measures that include firing, the Ontario Human Rights Commission said on Friday as it released the country's first policy on racial profiling.

The law sets standards and a framework for pawnbrokers across the province. It includes regulations on what information should be recorded when someone pawns an item, how long that information should be kept, and rules for reporting stolen property.

The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police wants the SIU to reconsider its policy that requires officers to report the use of naloxone kits.

The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police said in a letter to Special Investigative Unit director Tony Loparco last month that police forces should not have to inform the watchdog if the officer's only physical interaction with the person was to administer the drug.
