Four Israeli soldiers killed Monday died after encountering Hamas militants emerging from an underground tunnel, wearing Israeli Defense Force (IDF) uniforms.

The military said it has struck more than 1,100 targets, including Hamas rocket launchers, command centres and weapon manufacturing and storage facilities.
