The CEO of the Edmonton Humane Society (EHS) has resigned from her position, a spokesperson for the organization confirmed on Friday.

The Edmonton Humane Society announced Friday that it has voluntarily called on a third party to investigate an incident in which three cats being transferred by the organization were forgotten in a transport vehicle for weeks.

A program is launching at both the Calgary and Edmonton Humane Societies that aims to improve the lives of shelter cats and help them get adopted more quickly.
