The lawyer for the former truck driver who caused the deadly Humboldt Broncos bus crash hopes to argue against deportation before the Federal Court of Canada.

Jaskirat Singh Sidhu pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death and bodily harm and received a prison sentence of eight years.

“For a family that is contributing to the community, that is not sucking any resources from Canada – they are contributing – the idea of sending them home? I can’t wrap my head around it,” family friend Inge French said.
