The lawsuit filed against Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and the U.S. Postal Service on Sept. 9 argued changes implemented in June harmed access to mail services in Montana, resulting in delayed delivery of medical prescriptions, payments, and job applications, and impeding the ability of Montana residents to vote by mail.

Louis DeJoy is accused of encouraging employees at his business to contribute to Republican candidates and then reimbursed them in the guise of bonuses.

The Washington Post reported that Louis DeJoy and others urged former employees to make GOP political contributions, and would reimburse them through company bonuses.

Louis DeJoy, a major donor to Republicans and President Donald Trump, took over the agency in June.

During its search for a new postmaster general, the U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors was presented with 53 candidates screened by an outside company. Not on the list: Louis DeJoy, who ultimately got the job.

Louis Dejoy told a Senate committee that the Postal Service "is fully capable and committed to delivering the nation's election mail securely and on-time."
