The discovery of unmarked graves at a former residential school in B.C. and the countrywide awakening it set off have been chosen as The Canadian Press' news story of the year.

The acting head of the museum's archives says it will work closely with Indigenous groups as it processes and documents records from a religious order that ran residential schools.
