A natural gas pipeline shut down after a massive explosion killed a woman in Kentucky on Thursday will not go back into service until it is ``absolutely safe to do so,'' the CEO of Enbridge vowed Friday.

The 76-centimetre wide pipeline moves natural gas under such high pressure that the flames reached about 91 metres in the air and could be seen throughout the county, one official said.
