  Edmonton city council agreed to spend $3 million more on turf maintenance for its sports fields: an extra $1 million will be used to bring back the herbicide iron chelate and $2 million will be spent on mowing more often.

  In the next few weeks the city will begin assessing its 1,465 sports fields for dandelions and doing two applications of a herbicide where needed - at a cost of $750,000.
