Sen. Yuen Pau Woo, leader of the Independent Senators Group, says that her apology Monday to fellow senators on her racism towards Indigenous Peoples wasn't enough for her to avoid another suspension.

Sen. Peter Harder is urging parties vying for power in the Oct. 21 election to promise to change the law so that future prime ministers would also use an independent, arm's-length appointment process to name new senators.

On Wednesday, three new senators were announced and one of them is long-time Edmonton Journal columnist Paula Simons.
