Two independent Edmonton restaurants say they're feeling better prepared heading into Alberta's second COVID-19 closure than they did in the spring.

Last Saturday, the staff of Edmonton's Highlevel Diner donated all their tip money to help sponsor a family of Syrian refugees. The restaurant's owners matched the tips, dollar-for-dollar.

All of the tips gathered by servers at Edmonton's Highlevel Diner Saturday will be pooled to sponsor a Syrian family to come to Canada.
