The National Basketball League of Canada left the Maritimes nearly three years ago, but the future of the professional sport is bright with the Eastern Canadian Basketball League.

Since the Moncton Magic departed in 2021, the city has been without a professional men's team. The inaugural season is expected to start in March 2023.
