Fitzgerald was cycling in the Devonshire neighbourhood of Halifax's north end when she was struck from behind.

The report, currently under review by the Canadian Journal of Emergency Medicine, was led by Dr. Robert Green, an emergency room physician and medical director of the Nova Scotia Trauma Program.
