Darlington nuclear facility aims to be the first commercial operating nuclear reactor to produce medical isotopes.

The OPG said that returning production to Canada will result in a continuous domestic and North American supply of a "lifesaving medical tool."

Employees working on the Darlington nuclear refurbishment were sent home last Thursday because of ongoing concerns around workplace safety. It's the first time such an order was issued, says the company responsible for much of the work on the project.
