Romania's top diplomat in Ottawa says his country is moving as fast as it can to minimize a gap in the provision of lifesaving medical evacuations for injured UN peacekeepers after Canada ends its mission in Mali.

The commander of Canada's peacekeeping force in Mali says he is worried about apparent delays in the approval of life-saving medical evacuations - and that he is looking at ways to limit such problems in the future.

The 250-strong Canadian air task force contingent officially took over from German forces in providing aeromedical evacuation services and other support over disputed territory in Mali.
