De Grasse, 23, was silver medallist in the 200 meters at the 2016 Rio Olympics and won bronze in the 100 meters and 4x100 meters relay. He missed the 2017 world championships after suffering a hamstring injury in training.

The injury is a big blow to the Canadian team who was relying on De Grasse for medals at the worlds.

Training against the best in the world on a daily basis, Andre De Grasse says, will stand him in good stead when he lines up in Rio.
