The Canadian Food Inspection Agency's latest available data shows 866,200 birds have been impacted by the H5N1 strain of avian flu this year in British Columbia.

Ray Nickel said a quarantine zone has been established around the infected operation in Abbotsford, where he also has several farms producing chickens, turkeys and eggs.
