Members of the Alberta legislature were up through the night as the NDP staged a filibuster over proposed changes to labour legislation.

Legislation passed by the Alberta NDP mandates up to five days of job-protected unpaid sick leave, three days of bereavement leave for the loss of a family member and up to 16 weeks for long-term illness or injury

The Alberta government says legislation to update workplace rules could come as early as next week.
