AHS said the negotiations between it and the AAM will be reopened in the third year of the new agreement to review compensation for the new services that are being provided. 

Alberta Health Services and the Alberta Association of Midwives has come to an agreement the province says will increase the number of midwives practising in Alberta.

When Cassie Evans opened Honeycomb Midwives with her business partner last fall, their goal was to provide vulnerable women with better access to midwife services. Less than a year later, the practice is looking at closing its doors. Not for a lack of demand but for a lack of provincial funding.
