Great food nourishes, unites, comforts, heals and encompasses who we are. It also drives an increasingly important sector of BC’s economy; farming. Each delicious, freshly-picked local fruit you enjoy this summer is part of a $4 billion dollar BC Farming industry that employs more than 35,000 British Columbians.
In this special 980 CKNW series, Simi Sara will visit a few of the more than 17,000 farms that make up BC’s agriculture and agri-food industry. Simi will speak to the people who operate these farms and feed our communities giving farmers the chance to highlight the challenges they face and the successes that come with community farming.
Listen Live 5:30am to 9am Monday to Friday!

Keep It Local: The Farming Series is proudly presented by The BC Fruit Growers’ Association:
Did you know that the BCFGA is almost as old as B.C. itself? We’ve been representing tree fruit growers since 1889. The long-standing fruit-growing industry is such an integral piece of the fabric of B.C.
Choosing B.C. tree fruit isn’t just about enjoying flavorful bites; it’s a commitment to quality, sustainability, and supporting local communities. By opting for these homegrown treasures, consumers not only savor the freshest and most delicious fruits but also reduce their carbon footprint through shorter transportation distances. Morevover, buying B.C. fruit directly contributes to the livelihoods of local farmers and the vibrancy of regional economies. Each purchase is a vote for ethical consumption, exceptional taste, and fostering a resilient, homegrown food system.
