Barry Erskine says he has been planing his return to public office since July, but rumours of hs bid for the mayor’s chair were only confirmed on Nomination Day.
Erskine was a five-term alderman in ward eleven. He won the seat by acclamation in 2004. He abruptly dropped out of the 2007 aldermanic race, but re-surfaced months later as an independent candidate in 2008 provincial general election in the riding of Calgary-Elbow. In that race he finished fourth.
Barry Erskine is also known as the host of the popular radio show "Let’s talk gardening" for more than 25 years.
