Watch: David’s Tea holiday tea inspired gifts
With the holidays just around the corner, Bradley Grill from David’s Tea in Montreal shared a few lovely holiday teas recipe ideas with the Morning News team.
Choconut Oolong Cupcakes
Ingredients
Cakes:
3 tsp DAVIDsTEA Choconut Oolong tea
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup half-salted butter, at room temperature
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 1/4 cup buttermilk

Icing:
3/4 cup salted butter, at room temperature
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup hazelnut spread (Nutella )
2 tbsp chopped hazelnuts for garnish
Instructions
Cakes:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line 24 muffin cups with paper liners. Reserve.
2. Pulverize tea with a mortar and pestle. Reserve.
3. In a bowl, sift the flour, baking powder and baking soda. Reserve.
4. In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat butter and tea until creamy. Add sugar gradually and beat for 3 minutes.
5. Add eggs, one at a time, scraping the sides of the bowl after each addition.
6. Add dry ingredients in three batches, alternating with the buttermilk (begin and end with the dry ingredients).
7. Fill muffin cups with 1/4 cup of the mixture and bake 22 – 25 minutes. Let cupcakes cool completely before icing.
Icing:
1. Cream butter and hazelnut spread together with a stand mixer.
2. Add powdered sugar gradually and mix until creamy and smooth.
3. Using a knife, frost the cupcakes generously
Gingerbread Martini
Ingredients
2 oz DAVIDsTEA Gingerbread Tea
2 oz Gin
½ oz Grand Marnier
Instructions
1. In a martini shaker combine ice cubes, 2 oz gin, ½ oz Grand Marnier,, and 2 oz of steeped tea.
2. Shake and serve in a chilled glass. Garnish with and orange twist.
