Man shot multiple times in northeast Calgary

WATCH: On the same day that Calgary police reassured citizens about the safety of the streets, another shooting occurred, marking the third such incident in a span of four days. Elissa Carpenter reports. – Aug 15, 2023

Police say a man in his 30s suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital in serious life-threatening condition.

The shooting happened near Edmonton Trail and Mcknight Boulevard, near the Denny’s and A&W. The victim entered Denny’s after being shot shortly before 10 p.m.

On Aug. 14, Calgary Police say they responded to reports of a shooting that had occurred in a parking lot near the 400 block of McKnight Trail N.E. Upon arrival, officers found evidence of a shooting, however both the suspect and victim had fled the area.

The victim was located a short time later and taken to hospital by EMS, where he remains in stable condition.

Investigators believe that a vehicle fire, located a in the alley behind the 4500 block of Greenview Drive N.E., is related to the shooting.

Police believe this incident is related to organized crime activities and The CPS Organized Crime Response Unit is now investigating and is asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers.

As of Aug. 15 there have been 67 shootings reported in Calgary, which is a decrease of 26 per cent from the same period last year according to police.
