Man stabbed, nearly run over in south London, Ont. carjacking, police say

London, Ont., police are investigating after a man was left injured following a violent carjacking in the south end of the city on Thursday.

Investigators allege that a man was stabbed and then after the suspect got into the driver’s seat of the victim’s truck, the vehicle was driven “towards the victim multiple times, in an effort to strike him with the stolen truck.”

The victim called police at around 5 p.m. Thursday and reported that the suspect was an acquaintance and the carjacking happened in a parking lot off Highbury Avenue South, south of Highway 401.

According to police, the victim was located with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.

At around 5:15 p.m., the reported stolen vehicle was located unoccupied on Wellington Road near Exeter Road. A knife was also recovered.

Police have charged Lynton Williams, 33, of London by way of warrant with aggravated assault, armed robbery and dangerous operation of a conveyance.

He has not yet been located.

Investigators described the suspect as a tall man with long braids. Police say he was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, long shorts, and safety-style shoes or boots.

Officers said in a statement that “although the incident is not random in nature, police are reminding the public that if this individual is seen, do not approach him and call 9-1-1 immediately.”
