RCMP has confirmed six people are dead after a small plane crashed near Kananaskis Village, Alta., Friday.
The pilot and five passengers on a Piper PA32, was on its way to B.C.’s Southern Interior, when the crash happened. The Transportation Safety Board has two investigators working the case.
TSB spokesperson Liam MacDonald said the plane left Springbank airport in Calgary just before 9 p.m. and was en route to Salmon Arm.
An emergency locator transmitters was activated when the plane was reported overdue and search and rescue and police were dispatched, he said.

The plane went down about five kilometres north of Kananaskis Village, roughly 75 kilometres west of Calgary, MacDonald confirmed.
He added crews initially set up a staging scene at the Heart Creek Day Use area, however there is no longer a scene there.
RCMP confirmed the bodies of the victims — all of whom are from Calgary — were discovered early Saturday morning. The plane was found on the mountain face of Mount McGillivray, police said, adding the scene is only reachable by helicopter.
