Deerfoot Trail crash sends vehicle into building near Heritage Drive

EMS officials confirm there were no significant injuries after a Monday morning crash along Deerfoot Trail that ended with one vehicle on its roof resting against a business.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at around 10:45 a.m. in the the southbound lanes of Deerfoot Trail, causing one of the vehicles to crash through a chain link fence on the west side of the highway, and strike a building just north of the Heritage Drive Southeast overpass.

Several windows of the building, located in the East Fairview Industrial Park, were shattered in the collision. The full extent of the damage to the building has not been confirmed.

According to a Calgary Police Service spokesperson, impairment is not considered a factor in the crash but excess speed has not been ruled out.
