EDMONTON – In hopes of driving out hunger this holiday season, the Edmonton Transit System has launched its annual Stuff a Bus campaign.
With help from Edmontonians, organizers are hoping to stuff 15 ETS buses with food this year. All of the food will go directly to Edmonton’s Food Bank.
“The annual ETS Stuff a Bus campaign has become a major food drive for our organization during the Festive Campaign,” said Marjorie Bencz, Executive Director of Edmonton’s Food Bank. “We food raise and fundraise can by can and dollar by dollar. Donations not only help us during the festive season but into 2014 as well.”
“Hunger does not discriminate,” added Marvin Babiuk, Project Manager of the Stuff a Bus campaign. “Anybody who’s in a vulnerable position regardless if you’re a family, single, mother, an elderly person, life events can happen at anytime and there are those that may need that support right away.”
Volunteers will be collecting non-perishable food donations next week at several transit centres and Save-On-Foods locations in Edmonton.

This is the 19th annual Stuff a Bus campaign. Since 1995, it’s collected over 326,000 kilograms of food and over $340,000.
