Sask. RCMP hunting suspect after child struck and killed by truck

Punnichy RCMP are looking for a black 2008 Dodge quad-cab truck with the licence plate 274 MNW after a fatal hit and run in George Gordon First Nation Thursday evening.

A small child was hit by the truck and EMS declared the one-year-old child dead at the scene.

RCMP said they received the report at 5:50 p.m., but the vehicle had already departed when officers arrived.

Officers charged 33-year-old Mervin Poorman from Kawacatoose First Nation with failure to stop after an accident resulting in death and operation of a vehicle while prohibited, and are actively looking for him.

Poorman is described as approximately six-foot-three in height and 300 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He has a number of tattoos on his arms, including the name “Poorman” on his left forearm and one described as the “Browning” logo on his right hand.

Both Poorman and the truck have yet to be found.

Anyone who sees Poorman, police warn, should not approach him, but instead contact RCMP at 306-835-5200.
