WATCH: Bowen Island residents say they are ‘captive audience’ for BC Ferries

Bowen Island is just a 20-minute ferry ride from West Vancouver, and a lot of the ferry users live on the island, but work in the Lower Mainland.

The island’s population has doubled in recent years, partly because the ferry schedule has made it possible to live on Bowen Island and work elsewhere.

Residents say the change took them totally off guard and left them feeling blindsided.

And while Bowen will be losing just five round trip sailings per week, it will have an impact on everyone from shift workers to high school students.
