Officers with the Toronto Police Service were called to Dundas Street West and Avonhurst Road, near Kipling Avenue, just after 7 p.m. for reports of a shooting.

“Police located a victim with gunshot wounds. Sadly, the victim was pronounced on scene,” Insp. Suzanne Redman said.

“Shortly thereafter, a suspect was taken into custody and a firearm has been recovered. There’s no current threat to public safety.”

There is no word on what relationship there was between the suspect and the victim, if any.

Redman said the shooting happened inside of a unit.

She said investigators were speaking to some witnesses and forensic officers were working to process the scene.

Anyone with information was asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
