The fire started at around three this afternoon. Crews were called to Figueira’s Mobile Home Park on the 300 block of Yorkton avenue.
“When crews got here, there were flames coming out the windows,” said Captain Tom Smith of the Penticton fire department. “Made it a second alarm right away, called extra guys in, it was more than they could handle and they made it a third alarm that’s when other fellows got called in.”
The woman was believed to be on her own at the back of trailer when the fire started.
By time crews entered the home and located the woman, she had already passed away.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
