Man found in McGill Ghetto alley dies

MONTREAL – A man in his 50s died Monday morning shortly after being found severely injured in an alley in the McGill Ghetto.

The man was rushed to hospital shortly after 5 a.m. but died shortly thereafter, Montreal police Constable Anie Lemieux said.

He had been found in an alley called Place Ste. Famille, which is near Ste. Famille and Sherbrooke Sts. Lemieux said police believe he was a resident in a nearby building.

Police were considering the death suspicious, and indicated he might have fallen or been assaulted.
