Two Siberian tigers at the Calgary zoo will soon have a new home.

The two brothers – Samkha and Vasili – will be moved to the Assinaboine Zoo in Winnipeg sometime in December.

The brothers were born in the spring of 2012 and zoo officials are concerned they are now approaching breeding age and may attempt to procreate with their mother and sister.

Their sister Kira will stay in Calgary, along with the zoo’s three other Siberian tigers.

The Calgary Zoo says the move is not unexpected. It says it knew this day would come from the day the tigers were born.

The zoo in Winnipeg will need to complete some renovations before brothers  Samkha and Vasili can settle into their new home, however.
