HIGH RIVER, Alta.- The cast and crew of a popular Canadian television drama began filming in the town of High River again for the first time since it was devastated by the June floods.
On Tuesday, the cast and crew of Heartland donated the $80,000 they raised through a fundraiser to the High River Disaster Relief Fund.

The cast and crew also filmed a fictional re-opening of Maggie’s Diner, a fictional business on the program. The set was destroyed by flooding in June.
“I thought we would have to move it elsewhere,” says Heartland actress Michelle Morgan. “I am so proud to move back to High River.”
While the town continues with flood recovery efforts and many storefronts are still visibly impacted by the floodwater, the cast and crew of Heartland hope their return provides residents with a sense of optimism.
“This was a set for a television show,” says Heartland’s executive producer Tom Cox. “That doesn’t compare to homes and businesses but yes, we hope this is a hopeful sign.”
