Snowfall warning issued for Flin Flon, Thompson areas

Flin Flon had already received 18 centimetres of snow by 7 a.m. Monday after Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for Flin Flon, Thompson, Cranberry Portage, Snow Lake, Nelson House and Split Lake, Man.

A low-pressure system coming into northern Manitoba from Saskatchewan on Monday morning was forecast to drop an additional 10 to 15 centimetres of snow on the Flin Flon and Thompson areas, the alert issued Sunday evening said.

The snow is expected to taper off to light flurries in the evening as the system moves east into Ontario.

Winnipeg isn’t expected to get snow during the day on Monday, but there’s a 30 per cent chance of flurries overnight and on Tuesday morning.

Winnipeg’s temperature is expected to stay stead at 5 C on Monday, with a 30 per cent chance of showers in the evening. The temperature will sink to a low of -2 C overnight with that 30 per cent chance of flurries.

The Tuesday forecast is for a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of flurries in the morning and a high of 1 C.
