Woman found critically injured in Ancaster has died: Hamilton police

One person is dead after being found injured at on an Ancaster, Ont. street early Wednesday.

Police said the individual was discovered on the ground around 6:30 a.m. near Garner Road East and Kitty Murray Lane.

The woman, believed to be in her 20s, was sent to a trauma centre in Hamilton in critical condition, according to paramedics.

Hamilton police are investigating the “suspicious” incident and said there is no public safety concern.

“Investigators continue to work diligently to identify the circumstances surrounding what happened,” a police spokesperson said in a social media post just after noon.

Homicide detectives are still working to identify the victim and notify next of kin.

Reports from the scene Wednesday afternoon indicated a large part of the neighborhood near Gardiner Road and Kitty Murray Lane was cordoned off and a blue tarp was covering what appeared to be a vehicle in a driveway on Emick Drive.

A forensic van was also on scene.

Garner Road East between Southcote Road and Redeemer’s private road was closed for an investigation just before 7 a.m.

Kitty Murray Lane between Emick Drive and Smith Road was also blocked off.
