Winnipeg police surrounded a home on Wellington Crescent Friday afternoon, after being called to check on the well-being of “a distraught man.”
Heavily armed officers and a K-9 unit were on the scene at 1800 Wellington Crescent. Police say the man was believed to be alone in the home and may be armed.

People were asked to avoid the area.
A police spokesperson told Global News that “someone who oversees him” contacted police with concerns about the man police say has “mental health issues.” Officers were trying to make contact with him.
There were no injuries reported.
