Hikers locate body along trail in Meaford, Ont., death deemed ‘non suspicious’: police

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say a body was found along the Bruce Trail in Meaford, Ont., prompting a temporary closure of the area.

On Monday at around 9:53 a.m., OPP were called to a section of the Bruce Trail running west of the Rail Trail near Concession 11 in the Municipality of Meaford.

According to police, emergency personnel were called to the area after hikers located a deceased person.

Police said the area was processed and the matter was investigated.

“Investigators have determined the circumstances surrounding the death to be non-suspicious,” police said in a news release Wednesday.

Police thanked the public for their “understanding and cooperation” during the closure of the area.
