Durham Regional Police say a 46-year-old pedestrian has died after being hit by an SUV in Pickering on Tuesday night.
Emergency crews were called to Kingston Road at around 7:20 p.m. The road was shut down in both directions from Steeple Hill to Rosebank Road but has since reopened.
Police said the pedestrian was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to a Toronto-area trauma hospital.
The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.
The collision reconstruction unit was called in.
