Hamilton police say a youth has been sent to hospital following an incident Thursday at a secondary school on the Mountain.

In a social media post, a spokesperson says the individual’s injuries were minor and that an sharp weapon was involved in an occurrence outside Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School.

“A 16-year-old female youth was taken to hospital with minor injuries sustained from the edged weapon,” const. Indy Bharaj said in a release.

The accused is a 16-year-old male youth who has been charged with assault with a weapon.

The Upper Sherman Avenue school was placed in a hold and secure for a brief period around noon on Thursday.

An investigation is ongoing.
