List of school boards affected by teachers’ strike

MONTREAL – A one-day teachers’ strike on Tuesday shut down schools at 10 school boards in Quebec and affect 274,000 students. The walkout was threatened by teachers affiliated with the Fédération autonome de l’enseignement (FAE). The federation represents about 32,000 teachers and is still in talks for a new collective agreement. (Two other teachers’ groups in the province have already reached agreements in principle for a new contract.) The FAE staged a protest Tuesday morning in front of Quebec Premier Jean Charest’s Montreal office.

The following school boards are shutting down their schools and centres Tuesday because of the one-day strike:

1. Commission scolaire de Montréal

2. Commission scolaire Marguerite Bourgeoys

3. Commission scolaire de la Pointe-de-l’ÃŽle

4. Commission scolaire de Laval

5. Commission scolaire des Trois Lacs (*Primary schools will be open but high schools and adult education will be closed.)

6. Commission scolaire Val-des-Cerfs

7. Commission scolaire Seigneurie-des-Mille-Iles

8. Commission scolaire des Draveurs

9. Commission scolaire des Portages-de-l’Outaouais

10. Commission scolaire au Coeur-des-Vallées
