Cyclist struck by vehicle on Calgary’s Macleod Trail

Calgary police closed off a stretch of Macleod Trail Wednesday morning after a man was struck by a vehicle.

The incident happened at about 11:45 a.m. in the area of 8989 Macleod Trail S.W.

Police said a man in his 40s was riding a bike when he was struck by a truck.

EMS confirmed with Global News that one person was rushed to Foothills Medical Centre in life-threatening condition.

Calgary police later said the man suffered serious injuries but has since been upgraded to stable condition.

The driver of the truck is cooperating with investigators, according to the Calgary Police Service.

As of about 12:05 p.m., the far right lane of Macleod Trail southbound near 90 Avenue was taped off by police.

The area reopened to traffic just before 2 p.m.
